Katja studied Geography (BSc) at Kiel University and Swansea University. In 2014, she successfully finished the master program ‘Environmental Geography and Management’ at Kiel University. In her master thesis she focused on bio-optical modelling to derive macro algae and water depths from simulated EnMAP data. In her PhD (finished in 2018) she focused on remote sensing of inland water quality indicators. To this end, she used different airborne and spaceborne sensors with varying spectral, spatial and temporal resolutions. Her research is closely related to the projects LakeSat and BalticSeagrass.
