Earth Observation and Modelling

Research areas

EOM is working in all common fields of remote sensing applications including radar, multispectral and hyperspectral sensory with a strong emphasis in imaging spectroscopy.

EOM is specialised in the development of remote sensing applications for terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. We are also interested in combining remote sensing data and physical based model approaches, e.g. the implementation of remotely sensed agricultural or plant parameters in plant growth, hydrologic or bio-optic models. Moreover, EOM is involved in various projects focusing on the processing and analysis of remote sensing data to assist sustainable land and coastal zone management.

At present EOM is mainly engaged in Germany, the coastal regions of the North sea and the Baltic sea, the Arctic, South-East Asia, and Latin America.
